Discord Event Timezone Checklist for Global Communities
Use this simple checklist to publish Discord event times correctly for members across the US, Europe, and Asia.
When your server has members in multiple continents, one unclear event time can create dozens of support pings.
This checklist helps you publish event announcements that are hard to misunderstand.
Step 1: Confirm source timezone
Pick one source timezone for planning (for example UTC or your local office timezone).
Do not switch planning timezone mid-thread. Consistency prevents mistakes.
Step 2: Generate the Unix timestamp once
Use your converter to generate the Unix value from the source timezone.
Do not re-enter the same value in multiple calculators. One source of truth is safer.
Step 3: Post with two formats together
A simple pattern works very well:
<t:UNIX:F>for full detail<t:UNIX:R>for countdown context
Example:
Raid starts <t:1700000000:F> (<t:1700000000:R>)
Step 4: Validate on mobile
Many members only read announcements on mobile.
Always preview your message on a phone-sized viewport before posting major event notices.
Step 5: Add role reminders close to start
Queue a reminder message at -24h and -1h using the same Unix timestamp.
Because the timestamp is dynamic, both reminders remain timezone-safe for every member.
Final rule
Never publish global event times as plain text only.
If the message matters, always include a Discord timestamp code so the platform localizes time for each reader.
